The seated dumbbell triceps extension is a strength training exercise that targets the triceps muscles in the back of the upper arm. It is typically performed using a pair of dumbbells and a bench.
Method
To perform the exercise:
- Sit on a bench with a pair of dumbbells in your hands.
- Rest the backs of your upper arms on your thighs and extend your arms so that the dumbbells are above your head.
- Keeping your upper arms stationary, bend your elbows and lower the dumbbells behind your head until your forearms are parallel to the floor.
- Extend your elbows to return to the starting position.
Precaution
Make sure to keep your back and head against the bench, and keep your elbows close to your head throughout the exercise. You can also try this exercise standing, or with a single dumbbell or barbell.
